Glass Cooling Design
AC/a was contracted to provide a design to cool glass from a tempering/heating process to a level that would allow safe handling by employees. A high pressure, high velocity cooling system was required. Thompson IG, Fenton, MI
Space constraints limited the area of the new cooling system installation to approximately 4 feet. This limited the time to remove 200 degrees from the glass to 1 minute. Air flows needed to be balanced to keep glass moving on the line without movement breakage.
AC/a designed a fan and ductwork system with top and bottom nozzles to deliver cooling air on the glass to accomplish the end result. The system was implemented without interruption to the process or line.
